Leeway Studio has been working behind the scenes to learn more about what it means to be a Sustainable Studio.
Business Policies.
1.1 Leeway Studio supports verified forestry supply chains when choosing paper stocks. Carbon neutral papers or those endorsed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) are given preference, and paper must be at least ISO14001 Environmentally Accredited.
1.2 100% Post-Consumer Waste (PCW) recycled paper is prioritised. If this is unavailable, the FSC Papers will be selected for all print items.
1.3 Inks and coatings that have low or no VOC emissions will be used in order to minimize air pollution. No plastic or foil coatings will be used on any products designed and sent to print by Leeway Studio. Laminate will only be used when it is crucial to increasing the longevity of the lifespan.
1.4 Sustainable printers with our recommended inks and papers are prioritised.
1.5 Leeway Studio will not assist in the creation of marketing materials where the product produced is plastic.
1.6 Digital alternatives are to be recommended whenever possible.
Sustainability Policies.
2.1 Leeway Studio is mindful that by designing products for print and using unrenewable energy sources, it is profiting off of an unsustainable extraction-based industry, causing harm to biodiversity, ecosystems and communities. As a result, we must offset the resources we use.
2.2 Leeway Studio will continue to work towards the appropriate Future Fit Business Break-Even Goals. Our ultimate sustainability goal is to become a Future Fit Business. Leeway Studio understands that being ‘least bad’ is not good enough.
2.3 Leeway Studio’s Sustainability Mission is centered around environmental responsibility. With each day we need to be increasingly aware of our role in protecting, regenerating, and conserving the natural environment. This responsibility extends to our clients. It is our responsibility to advise clients to consider their impacts, as they make decisions around growing their brand.
2.4 Leeway Studio will not support companies that are environmentally destructive, nor will it support or design greenwashing campaigns.
Diversity Policies.
3.1 Leeway Studio will include diverse imagery and characters whenever possible in our designs and illustrations.
3.2 As an Australian studio, we acknowledge that for over 60,000 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have cared for country by using land management that worked with the environment. As a business we are committed to supporting, learning about and advocating for environmental and social policies developed by the ultimate system-thinkers and knowledge holders - First Nations Australians.
